Australian market: Offering a contract to a Trusted Contact (for clients)

Formalize the booking of a contractor with a contract via Worksome — Australian market specifics on Superannuation and payroll.

Written by Alina Durhuus

When you add a contractor as your Trusted Contact to Talent pool, we will send them an email invitation for onboarding in Worksome. Once your Trusted Contact has created their account, you’ll be able to offer them a contract - we’ll guide you through this process below, including what’s specific to hiring in the Australian market.

🇦🇺 This guide covers the Australian market specifically. For other markets, see the general Offering a contract to a Trusted Contact guide.

Hire one of your trusted contacts

First, go to the Trusted contacts page. You’ll see a list of all your trusted contacts and their status (active, invited, or applied).

Find the worker and Create a hire

Use the search function to find the worker you want to hire and click on three dots menu > select Create hire offer. You can search by tag, name, or email.

You will be prompted to add hire details:

If you choose to use an existing job post…

You’ll be able to select one of the jobs you have created and invite workers.

💡 NOTE: The job needs to have a specified rate in order for you to be able to quick-hire a trusted contact.

Once you have chosen the job and selected whether you want to attribute a recruiter to the hire, simply select Create Hire which will take you to your conversation with the Trusted Contact. The contract is already created and just needs a final acceptance from the worker.

🇦🇺 Superannuation for Australian sole traders

Please note: If you engage Australian sole traders via Worksome, we are obligated to charge you the worker's Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contribution on top of your invoice.

🔴 Important: The Superannuation Guarantee rate is currently 12% of the gross total of the freelancer's bill (in effect since 1 July 2025 — this is the final scheduled increase under the legislated SG rate schedule, so it is expected to remain at 12%).

When creating a job for a sole trader, please make sure that the job rate is exclusive of Superannuation, or you will be charged twice.

Once your external worker has created a bill and you have approved it, Worksome will add the Superannuation fee on top of your invoice as a separate line item.

🇦🇺 Payroll via a third-party provider

For workers you engage under AU payroll rather than as a sole trader, payments are managed by our partner CXC rather than paid gross directly. Payment schedules and timing for these hires depend on the employer of record's internal processes — for detailed timing information, refer to CXC directly.

You can read more about how payments are processed for the Australian market in our Payment Terms and Process guide.
